Carol S. Eliel
Since joining the LACMA in 1984, Eliel has organized numerous exhibitions.
These include L'Esprit Nouveau: Purism in Paris, 1918-1925; the award-winning Annette Messager, which was co-organized with the Museum of Modern Art; The Apocalyptic Landscapes of Ludwig Meidner; Contemporary Projects: Los Carpinteros's Transportable City; and Contemporary Projects: Mariko Mori.
Most recently she organized Lee Mullican: An Abundant Harvest of Sun, a retrospective of the California artist that opened at LACMA in late 2005 and travels to New York in the spring/summer of 2006. Eliel is also actively involved with acquisitions of modern and contemporary art for the museum.
She earned her undergraduate degree from Yale and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University. In 1999 she was named Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government for her dedication to presenting French art to American audiences.
Alison de Lima Greene
Greene has been on the curatorial staff of MFAH since 1984. Before joining MFAH, Greene worked in the Department of European Painting at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and lectured at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York.
Among the numerous exhibitions Greene has organized for MFAH are Czech Modernism: 1900-1945; Arman: A Retrospective; and Twentieth-Century American Sculpture at the White House. In November 2004 she opened a survey of Kenneth Noland paintings, followed in January 2005 by African Art Now.
Her publications include articles on Texas artists as well as Ellsworth Kelly, Philip Guston, and Dennis Oppenheim. In spring 2000, when MFAH's Audrey Jones Beck Building opened, she published the award-winning catalogue Texas: 150 Works from the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
She graduated with honors from Vassar College and earned her Master of Arts degree in art history from New York University's Institute of Fine Arts.
