The Hunting Art Prize Fact Sheet
What
SIRE, Houston's Therapeutic Equestrian Center, operates with the mission of improving the quality of life for people with disabilities. Founded in 1983, SIRE uses the benefits of horseback riding to both physically and emotionally strengthen those with disabilities. As one of 177 therapeutic riding centers in the United States, the facility offers classes to people with physical and cognitive disabilities, sensory impairments, and psychosocial disorders.
Who
The organization is fully committed to its clients. In addition to the educational and recreational benefits, the therapy allows clients to improve muscle tone, balance, posture, coordination, and motor development.
Where
SIRE has three locations serving the Greater Houston Area-Hockley, Spring, and Sienna Stables. These sites allow SIRE to expand its services to the growing number of those in need of equestrian therapy.
